As fears of a regional war intensify, Ambassador (ret) David Pearce considers possible scenarios and their consequences for the United States and the region. Moderated by Allison Hodgkins, PhD and recorded Wednesday, October 9, 2024.
Ambassador (ret) David D. Pearce served over three decades in the U.S. foreign service, including 11 overseas posts throughout the Middle East, North Africa, Europe, and South Asia and during some of the most consequential periods of recent times. He was the political section chief in Kuwait during the Iraqi invasion, the cons general, and the chief of mission in Jerusalem during the Oslo process. He also served as assistant chief of mission in Afghanistan and ambassador to both Algeria and Greece. Before becoming a career diplomat, he was a wire service reporter and covered the civil war in Lebanon as the chief Middle East correspondent for United Press International. He is a member of the American Academy of Diplomacy and the Advisory Board of the World Affairs Council of Maine.
Allison Hodgkins is the Executive Director of the World Affairs Council of Maine. She had a twenty-year career in international education, including eight years at the American University of Cairo in the School of Global Affairs.
